This recent Christmas was one injured Army veteran Travis Worrell won’t soon forget. The young newlywed and his new bride celebrated the holidays at home, after being welcomed into their brand-new, mortgage-free Smart Home on Dec. 23.
After becoming paralyzed from the chest down while serving in Afghanistan in May 2012, Travis, who lives in San Antonio, Texas, can now move about freely in his fully accessible home.
The California native and former combat medic is looking forward to making many happy memories with his family, which includes dogs Missy and Scout, in the years to come. The customized home features all the accouterments needed to ensure Travis lives a full, independent life- including wider doors and hallways to accommodate his wheelchair. Other features, including the installation of hardwood and tile donated by Atlas Floors Carpet One Floor & Home and Hicks Carpet One Floor & Home, will further ensure smooth transitions for many years to come.
Welcome home, Travis, and wishing you all the best!
